I've been listening to this cd this afternoon after quite a while.
I have to say that FELTON JARVIS surpassed himself destroying all the songs on this cd, it makes me sick to listen to those beautiful songs ELVIS poured his heart out recording, completely transformed to meet the ugly taste of JARVIS. This is definitely the worst ELVIS cd ever for me. |

I'm with Snowbird on this as I hate it as well. They have no right in 'updating' these tracks as they were fine the way they were originally done.I don't think Elvis would have been pleased about this as we all know how angry he got when the sound engineers messed about with his voice etc on his original recordings so for me its a thumbs down.

I'm afraid i would disagree. I think Elvis would have liked what Felton did. The difference being that had Elvis lived...of course its unlikely that they would have been done. But lets assume that he did...and gave permission to Felton to do some 're-mixes'...i am sure he would have liked how they sounded.
When Elvis was alive - he got angry because people tampered with his music...when he wanted it a certain way and it was changed without him knowing. As time had moved on..its possible that this sort of release could have been by Elvis himself...actuallt re-recording some of his earlier numbers. I guess its down to personal preferences...but i have to say i like the whole album. As i do the remixes that have been out the last few years. But, i can understand those that don't and feel that it shouldn't be tampered with. But i wil say Elvis was always trying to improve musically...and i don't think he would have minded these -------------------- |

Hey people, remember one thing, as an Elvis fan you should look forward to these types of releases, eventually BMG will run out of material, and we can look forward to different sounding material that hasn't been heard before, are the originals better, yes, of course, but these are great to listen to, technology has it's ups and downs, but aren't A little less Conversation and Rubberneckin' great as remixes, just as something different, if not for those types of releases, new generations wouldn't be familiar with his music. I'd like to hear more of them, not that they're better, but they're different. Would you rather listen to another mid 70's soundboard release with the same track listings, and let's admit, that some of the concerts already released by FTD aren't the best shows that he's done, on a personal level, I'd take this release any day over another soundboard, unless it's from '69 to '72, when he still sounded his best. the sound is better, the instruments are better, and the voice is better! Al

Sorry but I disagree I want to hear elvis in his way as he recorded the tracks .Not in somebody elses way that they think Elvis might have liked them.
I would much rather listen to any "average" Elvis concert done his way than listen to tracks remixed by people who have made Elvis tracks sound "their" way.At the end of the day the tracks on Monkey Business to me do not sound like "Elvis" music if they had used the TCB band then maybe things would have been different but as they are they sound terrible, at least the TCB band would have had a feel for Elvis' sound and movements and maybe this sought of release could then have worked. However as it is it does nothing for me. -------------------- |

I totally agree with you, PACER.
I can't get enough of the the raw ELVIS in the studio, i would listen hours and hours at the AMERICAN SESSIONS, or at any UNSPOILED song, that's the real, true ELVIS, the way he really was, the way he felt music had to be. What JARVIS did is a crime against music. |

Of course...you have your opinions and i respect them fully...but i do like 'em....so there
No, i know what you are saying....but i think they are kinda cool....but if i had to pick...of course i would choose the real Elvis too. But these are different...and in the case of the recent remixes...brought Elvis back into the spotlight and charts...and that has to be a good thing ! -------------------- |

And as you say anything that brings Elvis back into the spotlight and the charts is a good thing -------------------- |

I really enjoyed this album when it was released on vinyl back in '80?? AND it did spawn the number one
Billboard country chart Guitar Man remake(which I prefer over the original). This album served its purpose. It got Elvis lots of airplay. As I am an announcer/DJ by profession I can tell you that I played Guitar Man and other tracks from this album alot back then. At the time Elvis needed the airplay and some positive word of mouth. These remakes have a decidedly '80s sound to them and so are very dated now, but as I said they served their purpose and I have no problem with that. My problem with this album lies in FTD's presentation: First: Why re-title it? Confusing. Second: Use the original cover/liner photos/graphics. Third: original 10 album tracks first. Then the bonus tracks. At least FTD has learned from it's mistakes as later releases have shown. -------------------- Founder/President of the EPE Doesn't Own the Footage of "Elvis On Tour" Society.

Well Said, Jerry .....Although not FTD's best execution of a remaster/re-issue, still nice to have in the old collection. -------------------- "Government is not the solution to our problem; government is the problem" -Ronald Reagan (Jan. 20, 1981) |

I hate this one personally. Being a drummer, the drums sound terrible. It should have never been redone like this.
