i was happy to finally have this show in it's entirety. thank's for the info nightrider.
Can be simple on this one:
Great show, great sound, great packaging ~ GREAT release
Certainly in my Top 5 E concerts. I have standard release...the FB baxter release...but this one tops them all....LOVE THIS CD
my boy, my boy, that is one cool concert!
the sound is awesome, the band is cooking, and Elvis is in top form
HIGHLIGHTS: trying to get to you-Elvis's voice is so strong its awesome!
steamroller blues-how funky! this is probably the best version of this song, listen to Elvis during the guitar break ;yeah alright!, huh huh! yeah!huh huh! na na na na na na na na na na na na na na! (is that too mamny or not enough? ) and listen to the line 'i'm a steamroller baby! i'm bound to roooooooooll all over you!
rocknroll medley: a fun song, and full of energy!
polk salad annie:what a cooking version of this song!
why me lord: the stamps and j.d do a touching version on this song, beautiful
how great thou art: the grammy award winning gospel song, and here with out the overdubs, is spine chilling!
blueberry hill/i can't stop loving you-its fun to hear this song be sung, you an sense evrybody rocking to it, and then possibly the best version of 'i can't stop loving you' ever, GOLD! that falsetto is awesome!
help me: what a beautiful song this is, great version
american trilogy: this is an awesome version of an awesome song
let me be there: a fun song, full of energy
my baby left me: good to hear this version on tour, listen to the line 'all i know that the band i knew was gone' when the band misses his cue
lawdy miss clawdy: great song brought back from the 50s rejects
so if you want to hear thses songs, get this release, you WILL NOT be disappointed!
You have all talked me into buying it...I am heading to pick it up now! I have not been so keen on having to pay $30 for it from EPE enterprises but what the hell...I guess you gotta LIVE A LITTLE LOVE A LITTLE!
I ordered this two days ago from EPE and I just got it in the mail a few minutes ago. Man, talk about TAKIN' CARE OF BUSINESS in a flash. Elvis would have been proud....
What a nice package this is! WOW! SHAZAAM! The king would have liked the production of this CD with the nice booklet. I am heading to work out so I will take the CD with me in the car and the first song I will put on is...LET ME BE THERE! I love that song and then WHY ME LORD my other favorite track on there.
I will give my sound analysis after I get back from working out...
PS I am just scratching my head again with the pricing on this FTD label. Here you have a deluxe set and package for $24.99 and then you buy something like the It's Midnight CD (the only other FTD CD I have bought) for $24.99 with nothing to it...just a little cardboard digi-pak....I JUST DON'T GET IT!
Great sound, but where is the bass drum? Being a drummer I have to have the "thud" or "kick" in my chest when listening to music. There is no bass drum in this CD. Whoever remixed this forgot to turn the bass drum channel up in the mix....MMMMMMMMM BADDDDDDDDDDDD
Compare two CDs if you will. Put in An Afternoon at Madison Square Garden and then this one, you will see real quick what I am talking about.
Now you guy's talk me into it i might oder this cd this week.
if i have the money.
Go for it Curtis, it's a fantastic cd buddy
Yes you dont want to miss this grate concert.
5 quick reasons to buy this FTD cd:
- Grate improved sound
- Grate performance
- The show is finally complete
- Maby one of Elvis best tour shows from 74
- One of the best versions of "Trying to get to you"
Just do not expect to hear any bass drum, it is buried WAY DOWN in the mix. Very disappointing from that perspective.
Now i have this cd in my collection.
great concert and Fantastic sound.
i am glad that they pulled away that woman calling his name out loud
when Elvis was trying to sing help me, she was driving me nuts on the original
mix.
i was hoping for elvis to tell her to shut up i am trying to sing this song.
I could just see it now Curtis, you at that concert with that girl screaming in your ears and you hitting her in the head with a chair...
and Elvis saying to you...THANG YOU, THANG YOU VERY MUCH!
It's a great show, but I'll find the sound on the CD somewhat "overproduced" - too much reverb and heavy compression in my opinion.
I wonder myself if they didn't have better pictures from that event. Most of them are not very sharp or do look like a bad scan.
Nonetheless - all in all a good release by FTD.

I've got to agree - the sound is a bit strange.
This is an outstanding concert, certainly one of the best concerts in ELVIS career.
I had the vinyl but never payed too much attention to it till the cd came out.
Its a fabulous release...and if not perfect sound...its an improvement on what we have before for certain.
I love the lp release with the crowd reaction etc but I read somewhere that this was overdubbed is that true??? As I dont have the FTD release so I can't compare.
A good release, simply to release the entire concert, one that need to be in your collection, but not in a hurry, Al
Love this album. A great release!!
This cd is nothing less than GREAT!!!!
Truly a fantastic show put on by Elvis, the sound is superb, great versions of all songs !
Truly a cd all Elvis fans should have, this is definitley in my top 5 favorites out of the ftd cds.
FAN-ELVIS-TASTIC! The original is still one of my favs on vinyl and cd but this is just fantastic. The sound is so much better and the audience dubs have been wonderfully reduced.
I feel like a lifelong Memphian listening to this n shouting "go for it my boy!" - and I'm Irish!
Blueberry Hill/I Can't Stop Loving You - a fav from the original so much better produced here.
The packaging is great and I love the pics - seeing at last what he looked like at the show.
Great FTD!
[And again - how wonderful to have our association with Chris-G at the Elvis shop, as ever impeccable service - value, courtesy and speed]
I know this FTD gets a lot of critism about the soundmix...
But is it really so bad?
The original lp/cd was not complete and has overdubbed fake applaus, good sound tough.
The boot "Steamroller blues" has the complete show but also the fake stuff... nice sound too...
This FTD is al that you can want: The complete show, no fake things, a very fine "in the building" soundmix.
Very warm too.
To me it's the best sounding recording of this show, and that includes the famous Japanese cd.
FTD did an excellent job on this, it's like sitting in the front row!!
However none of the titles listed above DO contain the complete show as the false start to Help Me was edited out for some reason and later showed up on the Funny Side Of Elvis CD issue.
Why FTD decided not to include the false start i have no idea.
Cutting and pasting is the way how RCA-BMG-FTD-Sony work.
