I am in total awe over your collection. How long have you been collecting. Do you have all your menus matted? I have quite a few of those myself and have been trying to figure out the best way to protect them.

Thank you, I am glad you like the collection,It was many years ago when I started my collection,I have to say that this is my second collection, the first i lost to a divorce and had to sell!! The frames for the menus etc I made myself as I am a artist and it is better for me to make my own for my paintings. Any frame will do,the only tricky bit is not to use any tape,blue tack,or glue to hold in the menu etc. The red background you see in my pics is just thin card you can get from most art shops,you then just cut small slits in the card and place the corners of your menu into them.Hope this will help.

Hello memphis 77,
Yes, Anne Nixon was with us with the fan club in 74, she sat not far from me at the show in a booth and i was at the end off the ramp in the centre of the stage,this was a great place for me to see Elvis but "not" a good place to take photos!
You could not take any photos at the shows (thanks to the colonel) and i could see red west and co in the wings checkin me(crowd) out all the time!
Some Years later i contacted Anne about any photos but never got any joy.

Wish I could do the same ..... guess I'll just keep to the CD's though .... Would have loved to have seen my wife's face if that was my collection ... that would have been priceless.

Great paintings Dennis! Thanky ou very much for the information on the menus as well. One question concerning those, did you use a special type of glass for the frame? I know alot of people will use acid free backings and acid free plastic bags for them, but I would rather frame mine as well. Any suggestions you could give would be much appreciated. Hope to see more pictures of your paintings as well as your collection

Amazing collection! It's like an Elvis museum. Thanks for showing the pics... It's always nice to see other people's collections. Like Conor I think I'll use your pictures to convince others (and especially my wife) that I don't have that much Elvis stuff after all...

You sure have talent as an artist as well - love that '68 painting!

anne wa s there also with another fan by the name of peter gustovos , and he took photos from that performance, although not close up , but very nice and it was through mrs nixon that i got the photos, i believe she still has some for sale or trade, although it's bin years since i contacted her, she also has pics from 3 other vegas 74 performances she attended.

dennis these are not mine but peter gustovs , i got these from anne some years ago, they are also available from startrekin00 on ELVIS insiders forum., i'm sure he's still on their selling pics , u can pay by paypal a set of 7 for 45.00[us] plus shipping., believe u me that they are quite nice.

Wow Dennis! So you're the one who does those paintings that actually look like Elvis - awesome!

I've always loved that top left 70's one. I have three of your '83 paintings (including this one) and the 85 blue painting in a book called Elvis in Art compiled by Roger Taylor. Your's and Oxtoby's have always been my favourites.

Now that I have the artist here in person(!) may I ask about the light Elvis is moving towards in that painting, is the figure who looks to be waiting for him anyone in particular or was it an "accident" in the cloud formation?

Hi, Thank you,The light in the painting is just a camera flash, the figure is a fan in the crowd.
Roger Taylor will have a new book out next year, i am working on some new paintings for it now. I also think Oxtoby,s artwork is fantastic!

Thats the great thing about art and having the chance to talk to the artist. Whilst this viewer layers your work with a texture of spirituality (my nickname and signature below show why this particular viewer would do that ) the reality and intention of the artist is something different. The eye of the artist and the eye of the beholder eh? Beautiful piece!

Hi, I am not sure? I have not seen his work for many years,Last time i was in contact with him was back in 1985, I had enterd a painting competition that Paul McCartney had started, it was for a portrait of "Buddy Holly". The judges, Paul McCatney,David Oxtoby,Humphrey Ocean.I have a set of his trays and his book that i treasure.

I still have his book. Oxtoby's Rockers. Was very cool and indeed influential when i started painting years ago. Not that i was ever up to your fabulous standards. I have a friend...who i think could easily make a living from painting...but he lacks confidence.....for some strange reason....he does fabulous stuff.

HI MATT,
MAKE THE CUTS ON THE STOCK PAPER SMALL,BUT ENOUGH TO HOLD THE MENU. THIS WAY YOU DONT HAVE TO BEND THE MENU TO MUCH.
