Elvis-TheKingsCourt _ Collectors Corner _ RCA Sound Tape Cartridge 1958-64

Posted by: SaharaTahoe Apr 4 2010, 09:51 PM

Maybe the rarest of all tape systems: The large RCA 1/8 inch cartridge tape only produced from 1958-64.

I am looking for the backsite of the G.I.Blues Catridge Box. Maybe somebody could help?

I've never seen the G.I. Blues cartridge but it's one of three Elvis cartridges listed in a "Living Stereo" Tape Cartridges catalog I have.
G.I. Blues KPS-3130
Elvis Is Back KPS-3127
Blue Hawaii KPS-4027

Wow! G.I. Blues Cartridge does exist. Any chance you could post a larger photo or email a hi-res scan? I have the LP album and a blank cartridge and want to make a copy to play on my RCA CP-1 cartridge machine.

Hi Jim, Hope these are ok for you......

Those are perfect, Thanks!!!!! Do you happen to have "Elvis is Back!" or "Blue Hawaii" cartridges? I made a box and label for "Elvis is Back!" but it was from a small picture I found on the internet and doesn't look very good. I've collected over 30 RCA pre-recorded cartridges so If I can return the favor and send you scans of something please let me know.

On the G.I. Blues, Is the spine and back the same color as the front?

Thanks again,
Jim

Thanks Dennis,
Blue Hawaii Cartridge artwork must be out there somewhere. I created the spine and back cover for the great front cover you posted of G.I. Blues. I've printed it and raided my wife's scrapbook closet to get her Xyron 900 adhesive machine. Allows me to print on plain paper and run it thru the machine to add adhesive to the back side, Works great and I also use the same method for the cartridge label.

Looks great Tom!

Better than the cheap and plain version RCA released. I guess they didn't want to spend money or lacked confidence in their own format. Suprising the covers are so plain for Elvis releases. I found a very small photo on the internet of the cover, Laying on a table so I had to skew the image to stand it up. I created the spine and back but didn't add song titles yet. Now... Who has Blue Hawaii Cartridge images?

Hey Tom,

Do you have the KPS-2231 Cartridge? (used for your Elvis Is Back!) if so could you post photos of the box and cartridge label? I don't have that one.
Thanks,
Jim

Too bad, That's a great album! When was "Elvis for Everyone" recorded? 64-65? The cartridge format was just about dead at that time.
I'm listening to my copy of "Blue Hawaii" cartridge right now on a restored RCA 1959 SCP-2 "Stereo-Orthophonic High Fidelity" cartridge player/recorder. Sounds great!
Never get tired of the Elvis albums.

I know that this is an old thread, but if there is still any interest in this subject, I used images from other sources and from this forum and reworked them. Originally it was something I did to see if I could pull it off, but after holding onto the images for almost a year, I have decided that I didn't want this work to go to waste. I have created a page on my site:
http://www.elvisrecords.us/tape-cartridge-magazines/

I have images displayed on the site with links to download zip files containing larger images so that you can use them as you should desire. I am giving back as my appreciation to such a great forum.

Depending on the bandwidth and abuse, the download links may be temporary, but for now, I don't have plans to remove them.

Thank you and enjoy.
