Rejected songs
A lot of songs were offered for recording by Elvis. Most of the demo's were rejected and even not recorded.
For some scenes in a movie several songwriters were invited to write a song for a certain scene. Elvis and /or the director made a choice whiche one was fit for recording.
Here I'll add all the information I come across.

Young hearts
This song written by Tepper & Bennett should be recorded on 07-05-57 for the movie Jailhouse rock (track 2018). It was rejected but on 31-05-57 recorded by Jim Reeves (RCA 47-6973).

Spinout
Here a scan from acetate with demo versions by Tepper-Bennett writing team. The first ones were recorded for the movie Spinout.
It seems that Travelin' light was recorded by Cliff Richard. It is out of my interests to look for more information about that.

I have found several artists which recorded a song with this title between 1954-1957. I don't know if they all recorded the same song as I have no information about songwriters and composers.

The original version was recorded on 21-10-49 by Ivory Joe Hunter (MGM 10578).

The song was written by Johnny Cash and recorded by him around november 1955 but the song was never released.

It is known that Elvis performed the song on several occasions in 1955 including the Hayride on 19-11-55.

This song was written in 1962 by Don Robertson for the movie Fun in Acapulco. The demo was sung by P.J. Proby.
I have not found more information about it.
The song lost the competition with Fun in Acapulco also sung by P.J. Proby on demo.

An acetate with this song from It happened at the world's fair was sold during an auction by EPE in 1999 (nr B 116)
I have no information about this song and probably it is a demo.

In a letter from jan. 8th. 1958 Hal Wallis suggests to add this song in the movie King Creole. However it was not recorded.
Another demo for this movie was the song "Hoping you were gone".

Tulsa's blues and Dog face
These two songs by Leiber & Stoller were selected for G.I. Blues but not recorded.
Dog face was recorded later on 29-07-60 by the Coasters; however never released.
It's a pity that the Leiber & Stoller writing team were not allowed to write for Elvis any longer. Songs like Little Egypt - Girls girls girls were existing songs; they were not especially written for an Elvis' movie.

Pins and needles in my heart
For the second RCA session in jan. 1956 it was suggested to record the song "Pins and needles in my heart". The original version was recorded on 02-08-45 by Roy Acuff & his Smoky Mountain Boys (Columbia 36856).

What a day - demo version was written by Don Robertson for the movie Viva Las Vegas but it was rejected.
His own recording (recorded may 1963) was released in nov. 1963 on RCA 47-8269.

According to a topic on the FECC forum an acetate with "Just let me make believe a while" is circulating for sale.
It's a Roy Orbison song written by Robert Blackwell in the mid-sixties. The demo version was never recorded by Elvis.

Everybody's got a baby but me
Elvis got a demo version and he wanted to include it in the movie Loving you. But since Paramount had already lined up the songs they would not allow him to sing the song in the movie. Elvis gave the demo to Warren Miller who recorded the song in 1958 (United artists 104) and took the composer's credits for it.

The song was written by Joe Sherman & Noel Sherman.
The song was selected for recording by arranger Billy Strange who arranged too the recording by Nat King Cole. Recorded 9 june 1962 – Capitol 4804.
The version (Burch-Wilkin) recorded in 1962 by Jerry Lee Lewis for Sun records (Sun 374) is another song.
Elvis never recorded the song in the next sessions.

The song was selected for recording for the Blue Hawaii movie (see script + detail); there is no evidence that Elvis recorded the song.
However the song was recorded in 1964 by Terry Stafford (Crusader C105).

1) An angel cried - written by Phil Spector;
2) A Texan and a girl from Mexico - written by Doc Pomus & Mort Shuman;
3) I don't want to - written by Janice Torr & Fred Spielmann;
4) Paper roses - written by Janice & Fred Spielmann;
5) Pictures - written by Sid Tepper & Roy Bennett.
She recorded 4 of the demos around 1960 and gave backto Elvis the demo with I don't want to.
Elvis recorded the song for the movie Girls girls girls.
1) An angel cried - released on Carlton 547 in april 1961;
2) A Texan and a girl from Mexico - released on Carlton 538 in january 1961;
3) not recorded
4) Paper roses - released on Carlton 528 in march 1960;
5) Pictures - released on Carlton 537 in january 1961.

According to the added documents the song is registered at ASCAP & BMI.
The song was recorded in 1962 by Ben E. King (Atco 6215); note Pomus & Spector are credited als songwriters here.

The demo ended up in the hands of Marvin Benefield aka Vince Everett, who recorded it in 1962 together with Baby let's play house, both songs ending up on the ABC-Paramount 45-10472 single
